The Top Three Vitamins Which Help Your Memory
The Top Three Vitamins Which Help Your MemoryBy Arthur C Doyle
A good understanding of how useful vitamins are for memory is essential before you make a decision on what to use and whether you want to use it. Using vitamins is not even close to the best way to improve memory but it is essential if you have basic problems with memory. Forgetting where you placed your keys is not a basic memory problem. It is mostly because you did not pay attention when you placed your keys. You did not even remember it in the first place. Where is the question of recalling it? The bigger problem is that sometimes these silly and common instances cause worry and that is when the real memory problems start. Basic memory problems are you "frequently" forget your name or the names of your dear ones. This has to happen often not once in a while. If you want to improve your memory incredibly this is not the way to do it. You can find more about it in the resource section.
A study has been mentioned in Daily Mail about 79 year old Sheila Alonzo. She has been taking tablet of B-Vitamins. She is no longer under fear that she is loosing memory and showed significant improvement in memory. Researchers at Oxford University found that the mild memory problems suffered by healthy people stopped getting worse when they took a B vitamin supplement. Don't let this put you off, this is not just for old people.
Fundamentally there are three categories of vitamins. If you want to improve your memory you should consider taking these through diet or as separate vitamin pills. The three categories are B Vitamins, Antioxidants, Omega 3 Fatty acids. Each of them have their own part to play.
B- Vitamins:
Homocysteine is an amino acid which is a toxic poison to nerve cells. B vitamins break down homocysteine. B vitamins help in production of red blood cells which carry oxygen. You probably already know that brain is the biggest consumer of oxygen. Research shows that B vitamins create a protective shield for neurons in the brain. The most important B vitamins which improve memory are B6, B12 and Folic Acid(B9). You can increase the B-Vitamins by taking through diet or as vitamin supplements.
Antioxidants:
Free radicals are toxic forms of oxygen molecules found in the bloodstream. Antioxidants protect brain tissue by breaking down free radicals. Vitamins C, E and beta carotene are antioxidants which play an important role in improving memory. The antioxidants prevent damage to the brain by breaking down the free radicals. Having antioxidants as a part of regular diet is recommended. Either they should be taken as supplements or they should part of your diet.
Omega 3 Fatty acids:
As the name indicates these are not vitamins but these are fats rather smaller modules of fats. You probably only heard of bad fats. These are an example of good fats. They help in protecting the brain from high cholesterol and inflammation.
As it was mentioned previously all these methods only should be used if you have basic problems with memory. There are much better non-pharma, non-diet methods which change an average memory to a super human memory. These are memory systems which are possible because of an understanding of how human memory works. Let me give you a few examples, you will be able to learn how to remember any list of 100 items within the next twenty minutes. You can prove it to yourself by checking out the website mentioned below.
